Building Universe on MS Access

Dear All,

Please guide me in creating a Universe on top of a MS Access Database. I need the steps on creating a new connection between the MS Access & the new Universe being created i.e which Data Access drivers to select, parameter values to fill in.

Do I need to create a ODBC DSN for the connecttion beforehand? If yes, how?

Hi,

Here are the steps to create a connection to the Access Database.

Need to create a DSN for the Ms Access Database:

From Start->Control Panel -> Administrative Tools ->

-> Data Sources (ODBC)

-> System DSN tab

-> Click on ADD

-> Select Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb), Click on Finish

-> Give a Data Source Name : test_dsn

-> Under the database section, click on Select

-> Choose the .mdb file, click on OK

Login to Designer,

File-> Parameters -> Click on "New" to create connection

->Click on Next, provide a connection name

->select the Microsoft -> Ms Access 2003, ODBC Drivers,Click on Next.

-> in the 3/5 window, select the DSN created above

-> Next, Next, Finish.

Hi Vikram, you need to set up DSN for the connection to Access database.OLEDB is normally a better choice, unless you want to use ODBC. There is a sample universe called eFashion that comes with the installation. Take a look of its connection set up and it might give you some clue.
