Clearing redo log files w/o backup

Hi!

I'm on R/3 4.7, SAP DB database.

I'd like to clear the log files without backup. They got filled during installation process and we don't have any relevant data to backup. Is there a way to do this?

Thanks in advance!

Kind regards,

Hello,

you can usually do a backup to dev0 which will write the backup to nowhere (at least in Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server). Because you dont actually write anywhere it should do a huge backup in a matter of seconds. However, I have not tested that with MaxDb(SAPDB) yet. But it's certainly worth a try. Cheers, Andi

Thanks, Andreas! It sounds reasonable. I have installed SAP DB Database Manager, but I can't connect to the database instance. I installed it by sapinst.exe, and I never got the database username and password. What can I do?

Thanks!

Regards,

Igor

Hi,

Try using user dbm and password dbm. This is the database manager logon credentials.
