NW2004s Sneak Preview Java install never starts up

Former Member

I've installed NW2004s Sneak Preview Java on Windows XP Media Centre Edition with 2Gb RAM and 8Gb swapfile but the server never finished starting up properly.

I've tried with JSDK 1.4.2_09, _11, _12 and with the recommended Sun JDK parameters but always the same problem.

The MMC reports the server has started up completely, with all green icons, but when I open a browser and point at http://localhost:50100/irj or anything else I get a 503 Service Unavailable or 503 The Application Is Currently Stopped errors.

The CPU usage of the J2E service processes keep chugging away at about 70% CPU utilisation, and I left it going for 24hrs but it never finishes.

There dont seem to be any errors in the logs that indicate why it doesnt finish starting up.

Has anyone managed to do an install on XP Media Centre Edition, or any version of XP?

Any suggestions?

Steve

Rich,

Thanks for the reply. I still get the same problem. MMC reports SDM, Server0 and Dispatcher all running, and http://localhost:50100/index.html gives:

503 Service Unavailable SAP J2EE Engine/7.00

Cannot process a request for dynamic resources.

Details: Web Container service is currently unavailable.

fter another 10 mins or so the error message is:

503 Service Unavailable SAP J2EE Engine/7.00

Application stopped.

Details: You have requested an application that is currently stopped

There are now a few hundred error messages in defaulttrace, which indicate 70 services failed, although it doesnt explain why. This is the first error in defaultTrace while starting:

Errr...are you sure you have started the database? You will have to manually reboot your computer and start the MAXDB database through the management tool console in order to get it to work.

Thanks!

Anyi,

Starting the J2E instance also starts the SAPDB: J2E service, which the DB Tools confirm is running, hasnt run out of space, and passes a validity test.

nw2004s j2ee when you start it from MMC, nearly takes 45 to 100 minutes to fully comeup.

Mmmm...no idea then, sorry, can't help you out on that one, but to be honest, whenever I encounter such weird problem that I have no idea how to deal with, I just get rid of the original system, particularly if there is no data in the system now anyways, and re-install it again. Probably your JRE was not setted up properly somewhere during intallation.

Don't really think this helps, but that is what I normally do

Cheers,

Raja,

I left it starting up for about 12 hours but still no joy. There are loads of errors in the defaulttrace where most of the services seem to fail on startup but it doesnt give any information as to why they failed.

This is my 4th installation so far and all seem to fail in the same way. I've tried with JSDK 1.4.2_09, 11, 12 but still the same result.

Cheers,

Steve

Dear Steve,

I am trying to install NW2004-SP16-Sneak-Preview on a 2 GB laptop with {Windows XP-MediaCenter Edition-Version 2002-SP2).

The installation finished successfully. The database and java instances have started successfully.

When we try to login like http://localhost:50000/irj, I get an error " 503 service unavailable

application stopped "

Details: You have requested an application that is currently stopped".

I have noticed that you have faced a similar issue( though it was a Nw2004s-Java).

Have you found out a solution to this issue?. is it any thing do to with the Media Center Edition?.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Selvam,

Thanks for your reply. No I still havent got it working and I suspect it is Windows Media Edition. Im considering buying a normal copy of XP and installing that instead.

Cheers,

Steve,

Pl refer to this post by dkats.

Uninstalling (disabling the service won't help) the McAfee privacy service works for us and we are able to see the login screen and get in to the Portal. The Preview installation works on a Media Center edition.

Hope this helps.
