Renaming RAR roles

Hi,

I was thinking of renaming the RAR and SPM roles according to specific role naming conventions that we have and also as I find virsa and cc misleading now that system names have changed. There doesn't seem to be a way to copy the standard roles in the UME. Has anybody managed to do this? And also I am wondering if these roles are updated often as part of service packs?

Hello Niamh,

No copy function, but the rename process is fairly simple. Just select all the roles you want and click the export button. Copy the details (CTRL + A) in the "export box" and paste it in a simple notepad text file. Change the names, (rid & rdesc) and re-upload the new file.

Keep in mind that the user assignment is also exported. If you do not want the same user assignments for the roles, just delete or change the entries.

Always test it first on the development box.

We created custom UME roles using notepad and following the Role UME structure definition:

[role]

rid=XXXXX

rdesc=YYYYY

action= Application_Action1;Application_Action2;

Afterwards, uploaded into UME and finally assinged to users.
