Adding another Integration Engine to PI

We are evaluating to add an additional Integration Engine to avoid performance and availability issues. This is in addition to having another Adapter Engine (non-central). We use PI 7.1 (no ehp1 yet).

Have following questions:

1. Is it possible to have another IE installed in a separate server and integrate it with Central Integration Engine?

(Appreciate links to specific documentation)

2. Our idea is to route specific interfaces to be processed in additional IE (pipeline steps). Is it possible to configure / route interface objects to be processed in additional IE?

Thanks

Satya

This thread has discussion about XI 3.0 post installation issues.

As explained above, my questions are related to PI High Availability architecture. Still looking for help.

Thanks

It will be an active-active cluster ......but why to have it .....having an active-active setup is not recommended

Thanks for all the posts.

Additional Integration engine is like having another instance of PI. It's not recommended due to the complications in maintenance.

It is not recommended to have two seperate PI systems just for performance reason.

You should enhance your existing PI installation to fit the requirements.
