Java version when installing R/3 4.6C & ERP6.0

Hello all,

Now I'm to install 2 SAP systems below;

#1 R/3 4.6C on Windows Server 2003(32bit) & MSSQL2000

#2 ERP6.0 on Windows Server 2008(64bit) & MSSQL2008

Years ago, I installed J2SE 1.4.2-12, or -17 before installation of SAP.

But I found Note#1230512 saying EOL of J2SE 1.4.2.

And I couldn't exactly understand what the note says.

It seems I can still use J2SE 1.4.2, but also, it looks current users of J2SE 1.4.2 can still use the same version, but not for new users..

Please suggest what really happens on here.

thanks in advance,

Hozy

Not only you can but you have to use it. Current/actual versions require 1.4.2 (check http://service.sap.com/pam - click on "SAP Netweaver 7.0" and see the powerpoint that opens).

Use the link provided in

Note 716604 - Access to Sun J2SE and recommended J2SE options

to get an actual version to run your installations.

R/3 4.6c is long out of maintenance, it shouldn't be installed on new systems.
