We are planning for multi site MII implementation for our client, each plant have separate MII servers and connect to a single Corp. SAP server.

Is it we need SAP NetWeaver server (for each MII Server) for each plant? Or one SAP Netweaver instance enough?

Could you please help me on this?

Thanks for your reply. Is it must to have SAP PI system to integrate with SAP to buffer the data?

If SAP server disconnected from MII server, when SAP server available , are we able to load the data back to SAP in MII ? Please clarify

Hello,

Not necessarily to have PI for buffering.

The 12.x versions of MII are quite capable of doing Buffering and Re-try upon failure.

Please refer through this link [Buffering|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_mii121/helpdata/en/45/515db282a33a16e10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm]

Hope this helps!!

Hallo,

PI is not obligatory for connecting MII to SAP ERP. But PI ist a strategic component for our company since it organizes all data transfers between ERP and external service providers, clients and so on. Therefore we decided to separate between site-specific nearly realtime data transfers organized by MII and site-to-site transfers done by PI. I believe, that PI has more transfer management options on board rather than MII. MII is very good in shop floor and site-specific SAP System integration like our EWM systems.

Hallo,

our company has about 10 sites; all of them will run MII in the future. Since each site must be able to run independant from our central ERP System, they get a standalone system with a Netweaver system and MII on top. The integration job to the ERP system is done by SAP PI (formerly XI), which incorporates all mechanisms to buffer data, restart transfer jobs and anything more. Actually 2 sites are working in this way.
