Unable to uninstall MaxDB using sdbuninst

Hi,

The installation of R3E 4.7 on RHEL 4 Linux with MaxDB 7.5 crashed during DB instance and I need to make a clean uninstall of MAXDB.

When I try using sdbuninst -all

the message is:

"found instance ISV

cannot remove package "Database Kernel": first you have to remove all instances.

fatal error"

I am unable to remove ISV instance because the dbmcli cannot find a valid instance!!

the output of dbmcli db_enum is:

"Error! Connection failed to node (local) for database (no dbname): Reading header from pipe:(0:NO ERROR(0)"

and out put of "dbmcli -d ISV -u control, control db_drop" is:

"Error! Connection failed to node (local) for database ISV: Reading header from pipe:(0:NO ERROR(0)"

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Sejal

Hello Sejal,

-> What are the results at the end of 'sdbverify' run?

( by default tool located in /sapdb/programs/bin )

Please run 'sdbverify > sdbverify.txt' as root user & send me the sdbverify.txt file.

Please also provide additional information:

-> What outputs you will get when you will run the following commands on the database server:

dbmcli -s inst_enum

dbmcli -s db_enum

dbmcli -s dbm_version

sdbregview -l

Sdbuninst -l

xinstinfo

-> Do you have another database instances installed on this server?

-> Do you have any database software installed on this server or the directory /sapdb is empty now?

-> Did you run 'sdbuninst -all' as root user?

***

If all(!) database software ( directory, by default, /sapdb is empty ) was deleted on the server, then please also delete the file:

/etc/opt/sdb

&&

/usr/spool/sql ( subdirectories )

=> All database software will be deleted on the database server.

Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina

Hi natalia,

Thats what I eventually did! Deleted all directoties manually and removed entries from /etc/opt/sdb and

/usr/spool/sql.

I could then reinstall a fresh instance again

Thanks a lot for your reply and have a great day!

Cheers,
