Hello Ardhian,

That is not the question. Oracle Data Guard with physical standby databases is supported in a SAP environment (sapnote #105047 - Point 14).

How you create, maintain and administrate your Data Guard environment is your choice. If you want to use third party software - you can do that.

The only thing that makes me wonder with Dbvisit is the following:

"Dbvisit works with Oracle RAC, Oracle Standard Edition (SE), Standard One, XE and other Oracle features such as ASM, OMF and Flash Recovery (FRA)."

Oracle Enterprise Edition is not mentioned and so i guess you are not able to run the standby database without data loss (LGWR SYNC), but i am not sure because of i don't know that software.

We used DBshadow (http://www.libelle.com/en/solutions/products/dbshadow/) some time ago, but you are so limited with such tools when running a Data Guard environment.

It's your choice.

Hi,

Dbvisit (http://www.dbvisit.com) is supported with Oracle Enterprise Edition. Dbvisit uses physical standby database similar to Data Guard and so is supported in a SAP environment.

Dbvisit will work with all versions of Oracle (starting with Oracle 8i) and will work with all editions of Oracle (XE, SE1, SE and EE). It will work with both 32bit and 64bit on Windows, Linux and most Unix.

Dbvisit creates the standby database automatically for you, making it a very simple and cost effective solution for Oracle DR.

Download the free 30 day trial version.

Kind regards, Arjen
