SAP MII upgarde from 12.0 to 12.1

Hi Friends,

We need input from you regarding MII version upgrade from 12.0 to 12.1

Our current SAP MII System detail

- OS - Windows 2003 Server (32bit)

- SAP version - SAP NW 7.0 SPS 16 ( Java Stack)

- SAP MII version - 12.0 SP5

We had gone through "Upgrade Master Guide SAP MII 12" and "Component Upgrade Guide SAP MII 12.1" . As per our understanding it is NOT possible to upgrade MII version to 12.1 as MII 12.0 SAP system is running on 32 bit OS and the u201CSAP MII 12 .1 Upgrade Masteru201D will run only on 64 bit OS.

We need to follow following approach in our case.

1)  Install SAP MII 12.1  on new 64 Bit Machine

 Install SAP SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment (CE) 7.1 EHP1 SPS3  
 Deploy SAP MII 12.1 SCA file on Java Server

2)    Migrate data from SAP xMII 12.0 to SAP MII 12.1  

3)    Decommissioning of SAP xMII 12.0 SAP Server  running on 32 bit machine

Please let us know is our understanding correct ? Thanks in advance.

Comments on your steps:

2) You should be able to Export project zip file(s) from 12.0 and Import them into 12.1, using the System Administration...Projects screen. The same should be the case for all relevant configurations you want to migrate, using the System Administration...Configuration screen.

2a) Retest / Remediate / Keeping an eye on the NW logs, etc.

Thanks for the inputs.

That means it is not possible to upgarde MII version12.0 to 12.1 if 12.0 SAP system is running on 32 bit server.

Instead of that we need to follow migration approach.

Yes - 64 bit only, the NW upgrade tool cannot upgrade the underlying operating system.
