Hi Kumar,

You can use or select PPM or PDS depending upon your

business requirement.

SAP Note 1079959 provides the clear bifurcation of using

PPM and PDS in an APO environment.

From my perspective, you can use PDS as a better choice

for effective master data control as PDS can be created

and changed only from R/3 and not in APO

Hi Kumar,

I too think PDS would be a good option.

PDS concept is relatively new and has some good controls like change only from SAP R/3.

For ease of operations , consultants may find PPS as a straightforward choice, however, I think , it is a matter of practice.

Hi,

SAP does not support (except existing customers) / develop PPM now. Focus is only on PDS.

PDS is the clear choice. it is the strtegy of APO development. PPM is in maintenance mode.

the only disadvantage I see with the PDS is that you cannot change it in APO and you cannot make real good simulative alternative master data settings in alternative models or versions. all changes have to go through ERP.
