msg_server.exe not appearing in SAP management console

Hi Experts,

First of all I want to tell you that I am new to BASIS activities. I am trying to learn installation and error handling.

I have installed R3 Enterprise 4.70x 2.00 SR1 on Win SQL Server and everything was successful. Now when I try to start SAP from console, msg_server.exe does not appear in the process list and dispatcher status is u201CRunning but message server unreachableu201D. Also in WP Tables, I can only see two DIA processes.

I can give you developer trace file dev_ms and dev_w0 for your reference if you need them.

Thanks in advance,

Brahma

Hello,

Do you have 32 bit Windows?

Make sure /3Gb and /pae switches are enabled in the boot.ini file,

1. Stop the SAP service

2. Open a command prompt

3. Go to usr\sap\<SID>\exe\run

4. call 'sapstartsrv.exe -t' from the command line

5. Confirm

the dialog window

6. Start the service again

If the error persists what error do you get in event viewer?

I ran into a similar issue and I did the following to fix the issue.

1. Logged in as SIDadm

2. Verified the SAPServiceADM & SIDadm were in the local administrators group

3. Reset the log on accounts for both services ABAP & JAVA instances

4. Started the services manually

5. Opened the SAPMMC and was able to find the systems and start up both instances OK

6. For my sanity check I rebooted the box to make sure the changes stuck OK and they did

Please update issue if you have any other questions or otherwise please close.

Thanks.

Hi,

Check whether ur database services as well as the DB is running. Also execute R3trans -x as the <SID>ADM user and post the trans.log here.
