SAP not supporting SAPgui Installation Server on VMWare ?

Hi,

I thought I'd setup a new (test) SAPgui Installation Server using the latest 7.20 C1 in a Win2003 SP2 vSphere VM. I had a problem trying to update a workstation via the updater service it installs for which I could find no answers for so I decided to ask SAP if they could help. This was their response:

Dear Nelis,
Thank you for contacting SAP Active Global Support.
Unfortunately, SAP does not support virtual environments and it is
not planned in a near future.
For the supported software and hardware, please see note 26417.
Sorry for not being able to give you a more desirable response.

Now, if I take a look at that note it doesn't even mention the SAPgui Installation Server nevermind the fact that it doesn't mention anything about it not supporting virtual environments either.

Any comments ?

this answer is just wrong. Happens sometime, sorry...

I have actually managed to sort out the issue now myself but was still surprised by SAP's response. You can check 514257 / 2010
