CR 2008 SP3 Merge Modules - CEReportSource.dll failed to register Error

With Service Pack 2, the "CEReportSource.dll failed to register" Error during install was fixed by downloading and installing Microsoft C++ 2005 SP1 runtime components.

However, that step no longer seems to fix that issue. This seems to be a problem only with XP machines.

Question: has the dependency changed? Any known fixes?

Hi Ido,

We haven't seen this one and the fix was the same as SP2. Use Dependency Walker and see if you have what it's looking for. Other option is to use the MSI redist package rather than the merge modules.

Thank you

Don

Please ignore. Looks like the problem was due to the user applying the wrong C++ runtime install. It has to be SP1.
