DMU Viewing - FM for Transporting Data

Hi Everyone,

For enabling DMU viewing, its understand that via the CAD interface, the associated CAD data is transferred to the SAP system during which the CAD files are converted into visual 3D files.

Now,while defining the settings for the conversion process, if we decide to check-in the application file into a storage area, do we have a function module that will automatically transport the data everytime into the secure storage area from the CAD environment? Or do we do it manually?

Hi,

normally if you create some CAD drawings in your CAD application there should be a SAP PLM integration. With this integration you may logon to the SAP system and enter the CAD Desktop there. On the SAP view in the CAD Desktop you can then create a document info record and checkin the original file.

There should be also the possibility to create document info record in 'dark' mode so no manual creation action is necessary.

Best regards,

Thanks for your inputs Christoph!! Thats a much more straight forward approach Need to explore it.

P.S For learnings' sake, could you shed more light on doc creation in the 'dark' mode? Missed that one.

Hi Pradeep,

It depends on the CAD system you are using.
