SMD Setup

Hi,

We have a new requirement to get SMD running quickly. I've upgraded our test Solution Manager to EHP1 7.0 SP 24. When I ran solman_setup, WILY INTROSCOPE had not been installed, so that was not configured.

The systems we want to monitor include ABAP only and Dual Stack systems. One of our consultants is saying SMD requires Wily Introscope, which I understood to be for non-ABAP systems. Can SDM monitor ABAP systems without having Wily Introscope installed?

I installed DIAGNOSTICSAGENT711_0-20005919 on a dual stack target system. I have not yet installed Wily Introscope. I have confirmed the RFCs from the Solution Manager to the target system are working fine, including the trusted RFCs. SMSY appears to be fine. I went into http:<system>:50000/smd/admin and ran the Setup Wizard on the monitoring system. When I go into the Setup Wizard for Managed Systems tab, however, I get the following message

No managed system found. Please make sure to define your systems properly in SMSY

I have searched SDN and seen multiple similar reports. None, however, appear to contain a solution.

Does anyone know of a procedure to correct this?

Thanks and best regards,

Russ

Thanks for the responses.

RZ70 on the client / target system points to the SLD on the production solution manager system. The test solution manager system has been added, however, as an SLD bridge in the production solution manager system. As I understand it, any update to the production SLD will automatically be sent to the test solution manager SLD.

The Java configuration for the client / target system appears to be configured to go to the production solution manager system as well. SMSY on the test solution manager is being updated nightly, based on the logs.

I can display the version information in SMSY of the target / client system. The versions of the software for both the ABAP and JAVA stacks are being updated nightly, so I think SLD is alright.

I have installed the Wily Agent in the solution manager JAVA. The SMD server package on solution manager has been upgraded to the latest and greatest. I ran a check in RSA1 on the solution manager system, and it appears to be active. I've tried acivating system monitoring for the target in DSWP.

I still cannot run the setup wizard in http://<host>:<port>/smd. It does not find any managed systems.

Thanks and best regards,

Russ

Dear Russ,

If you set up SMSY and the SLD is correct, then you should see this system in, at least, managed system configuration in transaction solman_setup.

Please run transaction SLDCHECK and act accordingly SAP note 768452 to fix any issues.

Hi,

Did you run the Initial and BASIC settings in SOLMAN_ADMIN . If its done correctly , then the managed systems will appear in MANAGED system setup . If you need to configure it manually , refer http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm32/helpdata/en/a9/33482d238eac4ab9ab9596c9c0afd6/content.htm

For ABAP system monitoring, please go through http://help.sap.com/saphelp_dm40/helpdata/en/cc/df1241c738f423e10000000a155106/content.htm

Hi ,

This error shows that managed system is not define in SMSY.

configure managed system in SMSY if you have configured this managed system manually in SMSY there might be something is missing.Better you can push the managed system to solman SLD by configuring RZ70 tcode for ABAP and SLD datasupplier for java stack and then after you fetch the managed system from SLD to SMSY.

Thanks
