Work Centers in Work orders,

Hi Gurus,

I know there are three Work Centers that we can give in the work orders, one in the header screen in the person responsible section. Second in the Operations tab where we give work center in each operation and the third work center is given in the Locations tab in the location data section.

Can any one make me understand the way these three are used and what is the importance of each of them? Also is the work center in the operations tab is same as in Locations tab all the time, what if there are multiple operations to be performed in different work centers?

Thanks in Advance.

Anoop

The main work center at the header data tab denote the work center responsible overall for the work order. this is copied from the technical object of the work order.

The operation work center is by default copied from the main work center but you can change these. The operation work center represent the work center that will be executing the operation. You can have work center representing a group of labor. you can further select the person responsible in the operation work center who will execute the operation. alternatively, you can have work center represent individual labor.

The work center at the location tab is the PP work center. This is also copied from the technical object. If you set the system condition to 0, you can check the planning table (CM29) that your maintenance work order will block the PP resource time.

Hope this help.

Hi Anoop,

Work center assigned in Header data tab is the responsible work center for the work order as a whole, where as the work center that appears in operations tab is the default work center from the header tab. That means individual operations can be assigned to different work center as per availability.

Thanks
