Hi all,
I am new to SAP spend analytics could you please clarify the below mentioned points on Spend analytics:
Shold we implement the note 1239883 on ECC/SRM system and SPM system or only on the SPM system ?
Is data always extracted to a flat file ? If it is extracted into a flat file how is it transferred to SPM system and how are 'Deltas' handled. How to deal with the change in file names, like do we need to manually maintain the name of flat file every time we extract data ?
Regards,
Tilak
Hi Tilak
Note 1239883 provides the starter kit for extractors of Spend Analytics, or rather Spend Performance Management (SPM) as it is now reffered to.
These starter kits allow you to extract data in both the formats flat file or a standard BW data source. So if your implementation is a hosted/BPO type operation then it might make sense to extract data in a flat file and send it over (there are ofcourse savy ways of connecting your internal systems to the external SPM machine, a networking expert would be able to answer that). If you have an on premise installation then, obviously, its recommended that you go the standard datasource route.
Deltas are available (for the source objects that support delta mechanism) in both of these options. You dont need to reload the full dataset all over again.
Both these options and their configurations are detailed in the doucmentation that accompanies this note.
Hope that answers!

Rajesh
