Very slow start of ESR/IB with FQDN

Hi guys,

I'm facing some real strange issue in my PI installation. The start time of the Enterprise Service Repository or the integration builder is pretty long if fully qualified domain names are used (e.g. http://piserver.acme.org:52000/....). During this time I only see the browser download popup for the jnlp file. And this takes minutes!!

By using the non-FQDN (http://piserver:52000/...) the same action is done within a second.

Any ideas ?

Regards,

Axel

Hi Alex,

Apart from the suggestions given above I would add the FQDN with hostname in the hosts file and then give a try. Probably then it will automatically send directly to your hostname. Google for the hosts file location for your OS.

The hostname is resolved properly to the IP adress.

Hello Axel,

Perhaps it's because you have never used the IB before with the FQDN, so first

time it will download and reallocate all the .jar files to your system in order to

start the tool.

Anyway, check for the cache in the Java -> (General tab) Temporary Internet Files -> View...

See if even with the files there (if they exist) you're getting this slow performance after

the first time you tried.

The cache there should improve a quick start for the tools.

Hi Axel,

There is no much difference if you use the full name or like above. The thing is when you click on once all the buffer files are downloaded so at that time you close and again open then it will take less time.

Check by clicking first (http://piserver:52000/...) then it takes long time next close this and again open by using (e.g. http://piserver.acme.org:52000/....). at this time it takes less time.

Hello Axel

Usually after making a change like this, the first start up of the ESR/IB will take some time (a few minutes). But all subsequent start ups should then be pretty quick. Is this the case for you?

The problem isn't located at the phase when jar ressources are downloaded. It's moreover happening earlier, when the JNLP file ( the startup file) is downloaded.

I don't have any idea why.

The ressources download (jar files for ESR and IB) is working fine.

Some more ideas?

Axel
