hi gurus

just have a little query for ya all..

when we purchase sap user license does it include only production system or DEV,QAS also. Suppose if we purchase a license of,say, 200 users then does this license only applicable for production system or it includes the entire landscape(DEV,QAS & PRD) .

please advice.

nate.

Hi,

Simple yes; and no point in using more than procured licenses the PRD env is the only one where all the your licenses is utilized again be specific with the licenses it's like breaching the agreement.

DEV-QAS are those env where customizing / development / testing are done not for the real-env.

It depends, so just ask your account manager about your license terms.

We cannot answer this question for you...

Usually you can install as many test and development systems as you want.

True, but depending on your contract type and installation numbers there may or may not be user costs for developer keys in development systems.

The easiest option is an enterprize software license which can be negotiated, and then one does not have to "hack around" with these problems anymore.

They can have challenges of their own, but I would agree that they are typically easier.

As an example, if you are an organisation with a number of projects in "pre-golive" state, you could potentially be doing licence admin & measurement for every non-prod system.
