Serial Numbers in Inspection Lot created at Production Confirmation

All,

We are trying to verify the passing of serial numbers in "In-process" production inspection (03) and Production GR Inspection (04). When we assign serial numbers to a production order at Release the Serial numbers are transferred to the Inspection Lot (Type 03). However, on order confirmation, a "04" type inspection lot is created with no serial numbers.

Are we missing any customizing setting on the PP side? I have looked at QM settings and it looks like all is in order. Unless we have missed something. Any suggestions?

Hi,

If You want to assign serials to inspection lot (table SER04), You have to add operation QMSL to serial profile assigned to material.

1. SPRO->Plant Maintenance and Customer Service->Master Data in Plant Maintenance and Customer Service->Technical Objects->Serial Number Management->Define Serial Number Profiles

Mark your profile and chose Serializing procedures

ENTER

QMSL    Maintain inspection lot    03    02

2. Assign profile to material master MM02 in "General Plant Data / Storage 2 view"

3. Mark "Serial number poss." in MM02, QM view inspection setup.

After GR from production serials will be assigned to Incpecion Lot.

What I have understood is, serial numbers are being assigned to 03 inspection type lots. The same you want for 04 lots which

is not happening. Will you please ensure this?

1. Check out the material document of 101 movement through which GR against production order is done. Whether this document contains serial numbers? If not then lot has to be posted without serial number. In this case you have to investigate that at the time of GR system should ask for serial numbers.

2. If material document contains serial numbers, then check whether Serial Number Management Possible tick is activated in material master against inspection type 04.

HI Anand,

Yes, serial numbers are assigned at Prod. Order creation. These get copied over (and can be veiwed) using QA03 for the Inspection Lot of Type "03". On order confirmation, another inspection lot (type 04) is created and this does not have the serial number.

And the Inspection type 03 and 04 have both been setup with the "Serial numbers allowed" checked.
