If our Scenario fails (File to IDOC) in the Message Mapping, we want to send an Alert message from the system to inform the concerned parties that the mapping has failed, how should I approach this issue.

Thanks.

Rohini,

Which SP are you on? If SP14 and above, Alerts have been made independent of the End to End Monitoring. Take a look at notes 870232, 913858.

If below SP14, Take a look at blog,

Also, it is possible to send Emails using Alerts. Do let us know if you need any info.

Hi Rohini,

If you specifically want to capture mapping errors and raise alerts:-

Create an alert category in tcode-alrtcatdef and fill in the necessary details. Go thru' the following blog by michal which can guide you in creating the alert category:- /people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/09/09/xi-alerts--step-by-step

Now, goto RWB and create the specific alert rule for your alert category. Ths is done in "alert configuration" in RWB. Again, you can follow michal's blog for defining the alert rule and also this documentation:-

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/d0/d4b54020c6792ae10000000a155106/frameset.htm

Btw, if you are using a BPM in your interface, it will take a lot more effort to specifically capture mapping alerts.

Hi,

You can go with Alert Rules defined in the RWB. So whenever mapping fails you can trigger an alert. (considering there is no BPM)

Go thru this for Mapping Exceptions-

Alert Rules~
