Hello,

with which user do you execute the dpmon command?

The dpmon output looks like an user rights problem.

Could you please provide the logfiles from your dispatcher.

Kind Regards

Franz

Hello,

check you network configuration:

/etc/hosts entries

full qualified hostnames

name resolution

Are all configurations correct?

Kind Regards

Franz

Yeh ,

I have checked all configurations ,i mean host file entries have been made.....................and IP address ..everything is correct.

Actually according to our IT team .DNS was changed and when i asked them to check ,they said everything is working fine.

Can you please tell me if there is anything else in UNIX server i need to check apart from /etc/host files and /etc/services file.

Is this error relatedto shared memory????Please find the dev_ms log :

Hi,

check /etc/hosts. Is there an entry localhost 127.0.0.1 ?

could you ping 127.0.0.1 ? If not ask your Systemadmin how to configure it. I'am not very experienced with HPUX.

the system should be able to resovle localhost. I think that is the problem.

Kind Regards

Franz

Hopefully my issue should be resolved.

I will update you the same once done.

Hi ,

We still are facing the same issue with our UNIX server.

But that "localhost" resolution is not yet solved and our IT team are still looking into it.

But i am facing another issue in same server, when i execute "saplicense -get"

following is output :

saplicense -show

LICENSE system: VLL hardware key: TEMPLICENSE expiration_date: 20100415

installation no: INITIAL key: CT1XSO7OYOFMUXIVYUWDWVBT

userlimit: 0 productid: R3_ORA

system-nr: INITIAL_SYSTEM_IDX

      • license expired *

Is this could be reason of dispatcher not getting up???I have applied permanent but how come its showing "expired" is this the

"maintainance certificate".

Sandhya

License issue should not prevent dispatcher from starting up.

License issue only affect user logon, as license check will be enforced during logon (except sap* user)

For your instance, check following:

- sappfpar check pf=<instance profile>

if there is any error on SHM key, fine tuning it

- Removing shared memory from an SAP instance that terminated:

+ Find out which instance number was involved

+ Is this instance really no longer running?

+ Use SAP command showipc <instance number> to check

+ Use SAP command cleanipc <instance number> remove

or cleanipc <instance number>

- Check whether other shared memory segments can be deleted:

Use UNIX command ipcs -m or ipcs -a -m

to view the list of all shared memory segments.

See also UNIX command ipcrm

Hope this helps.

Vincent

Hi thanks for the reply,

I have executed all the command u told, butno issues with that.showipc is showing 0.

And i have executed cleanipc 00 remove.

Still my dispatcher is not getting up.

This is output of command "dpmon VLL"

kernel runs with dp version 241000(ext=110000) (@(#) DPLIB-INT-VERSION-241000-UC)

length of sys_adm_ext is 576 bytes

      • ERROR => DpSysAdmExtCreate: ShmCreate (ATTACH) failed (3) [dpxxtool2.c 652]

      • ERROR => DpIPCInit2: DpSysAdmExtCreate [dpxxtool2.c 369]

Hi ,

Can you please tell me how do we check the blocked port numbers in UNIX.

I am not able to telnet the ports 3200,3600,3900.

Hi,

this is clearly OS issue on shared memory objects

maybe you might want to update your HPUX OS patches

In unix, you can use utility like lsof, netstat

netstat -an | grep <port>

lsof -i TCP|grep ":<port number>"

Vincent

Hi..

This is the out put i am getting when i execute commands :netstat -i and try to telnet to ports 3600,3900,3300.

Hi All,

Our Unix admins says that in Unix server "local host" will not ping .

Is this correct,as i am not good at UNIX and networking.

Also will we be able to telnet SAP ports 3300,3600,3900 when SAP is down?????

sandhya..

Hello,

iam also not a Unix Geek but in my knowledge is that localhost and a loopback is standard on every system.

It could be your DNS Config. Does your server use /etc/hosts together with a Name Server to resolve Networknames.

It looks like your system only use the Name Server.

Kind Regards

Franz
