Can anyone describe how to make an IDOC web Service enabled? It is listed as something that can be made into a web service similar to an RFC. If so where in SAP would this be accomplished.

Also, can any one speak to the overhead associated using a web service versus an RFC that is not web service enabled? Does this hurt performance.

Hi,

1. i think that it's best that you look into the SAP XI(exchange infrastructure), this is the component that will enable the IDOC web service.

2. about your second question regarding overhead it is clear that web service is a little bit slower than RFC because of the descriptive overhead in SOAP. it's really hard to quantify the performance overhead because it's really differs from one service to another.

XI is not option at the current client. I was hoping to understand how to enable an IDOC via webservice. Do we have an ability to do this?
