Dear all.
We have one solution manager 7 with EHP1.
The solman is shared by multi company. and some company already are using the 001 client.
This means ume master client also is 001 client on configuration tool of JAVA stack.
under this situation. I want to use another client for only our company.
In this case, I guess. I cannot use full solution manager function.
Anyway.
1. already new client was made by source client 000 and user master 001 client. in case, what is restriction for all function of solman?
2. When i changed ume master client from 001 to 400.Abap stack is normal started, but java stack could not start.? How can i do that?
If you have good idea. please let me know.
Thanks
For your first question, I don't know exactly what usage restrictions you will have without the java, but I can assume it will be quite a heavy loss of functionality since so much in EHP1 uses java. You won't even be able to approve downloads in maintenance optimizer. However, in theory, you might be able to install a java add-on instance and user your new client for the UME. I have not tried it, but it sounds like it might be a fun experiment.
The second part of your question is probably related to the SAPJSF user lacking proper authorization. After the client copy you will need to create and generate a new profile for the role (SAP_BC_JSF_COMMUNICATION_RO) that the SAPJSF uses. Make sure that you do a user comparison after this is done and that you have green lights in both the role and the user account. You might have to delete the user from the role and then re-add if you run into problems.
Good luck.

Theoretically it should be possible to use Solution Manager in a multi-client capacity - but I can provide no guarantees about this useage particularly in an outsourced environment where you have different legal entities in the same system. To avoid any data protection/confidentiality issues I would always recommend 1 Solution Manager system per customer or company (completely separate systems for completely separate legal entities)
A straight copy of 000 unusually may not contain all required content - what would be missing is JAVA UME
Normally we would suggest a client copy of 000 with user source 001 *HOWEVER*
- because 001 is now being used productively by another company - this may not be legally possible
WHY ? - because client 001 now contains company specific data - by performing a client copy (of 001 or 000 with user source 001) you may inadvertently release contents of one companies PRD client to another company ! - I would seek further advice from BASIS team and your management team before proceeding. As I see it instead the only option would be to copy 000 user source 000 and forget JAVA UME useage (assuming client 000 is untouched and has no company specific data) that said I still have to re-iterate that I can't guarantee a untouched client 000 copy is foolproof vis-a-vis data protection/confidentiality considerations where you have multiple legal entities in the same Solution Manager system.
Generally speaking I would never use default clients or clients that are the sole source of default data as PRD clients
- always copy 000 or 001 to your own client - if things don't work out - you can always refer back to the original for help
Any recommendations you might have received to use 001 productively may not have considered a situation where different legal entitles are set up in the same Solution Manager system (i.e in a outsourced environment) - for example what happens if some deletes the the sole location of this data from 001 - there is no backup client - you might have to do a restore to get it back?. Also in past as I understood it client 001 contain pre-customizing data for Service Desk (although not sure if this is still the case) but what if 001 pre-customizing gets deleted or changed during 001 PRD use - there is no reference client to set up Service Desk again or check the original delivered content and requirements (a restore would be needed) - just some examples of potential issues of using 000 and 001 as PRD clients
Hope this helps
Stuart

Hello there,
It depends on the scenarios used in the different clients, but in my experience using multi-client Solution Manager for Service Desk and ChaRM will bring problems.
I would not recommend such a setup, but if you need to work with that...
Best regards,
