Issues on opening SRM 7.0 with IE 7

Former Member

Hi,

We are facing a strange problem in SRM 7.0.

For our end users who are on IE 7, they can open the SRM portal link.

They can swap with tabs purchasing , home , strategic purchasing etc.

But when they try to open any existing Po or adv SC (which opens a new IE window or tab). We get a blank screen.

Our SRM url is HTTP based.

We are close to our go-live date and resolving this is top priority.

Please advice.

Regards

Bidyut

How was this issue solved?

Hi Bidyut,

This might be due to internet explorer security settings. You might want to check this and test this with an IE7 client changing the security settings. And as Laurent reply'd test the same in a different browser, but i'm guessing this does work for some browsers (your in go-live stage). Meaning it could definetly be a browser setting issue. We ran into a different issue which we resolved via changing IE's security setting (attachments wouldn't open/show in IE).

Kind regards,

Tim

Thanks Tim/Masa/Laurent

Users are connected to SRM via EP.The same link works in firefox and IE 6.

The srm links and hyperlinks do work on many laptops with IE 7 , but a majority end users its not working.

I checked with most of IE settings, also included the url in trusted site.

Any suggestions

Is thr any specific IE setting I am missing.

Hi Bidyut,

I was gonna suggest to add the domain into your thrusted domain list.

http://*.sap.com

https://*.sap.com

I don't know the exact security setting i suggest 'trail-error'.

But you might also want to look into pop-up blocking tools or IE7 pop-up blocking plugins. They might be the reason you get a white/not-loading screen aswell.

Edit: Do you have all the latest Internet Explorer 7 patches and updates installed ([http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933006/en-us])?

Kind regards,

Tim

Hi Bidyut,

We had spent pretty good amount of time with people from Microsoft and SAP persons on this issue. They do acknowledge this issue. It is basically related to some Hotfix.

If possible ask the user to reinstall the IE and it should fix the issue. After that they should close the auto update - hotfix.

Thanks,

Hello Bidyut,

Users are connected to SRM using its ITS or Enterprise Portal ?

If you use EP, it could be a missing authorization to your EP user account (not in SRM).

Do you have same issue with any other browser (Firefox, etc.) ?

And if you use lower IE release (IE6, for example), what happens ?

Regards.

Laurent.
