SAP WM - Capacity Usage

HI Gurus

In Material Master - WM1 view, there is a field capacity usage. Is there a formula to calculate the capacity usage or its a free field where you can enter any number?

In the WM1 view, we define the a number that corresponds to the capacity usage in a bin master.For example , we define 1 capacity usage per pallet in the MM and you want to place 1 pallet in the storage bin, then you define 1 / PAL in your Mat master and 1 in your bin capacity

Thanks for yr reply.. What do you mean by using the capacity as an index? Can you please elaborate more?

By index, I mean just a number to indicate the capacity and not necessarily associated to any particular unit of measure. It is a freely definable field.

The field capacity usage is free field and can be used to enter the capacity as an index. Going by the same index you can define a number in the bin master as well. Based on the capacity of the bin and quants it currently holds, the capacity utilization is calculated.
