What is the importance of External no. range assignment in sales document details(VOV8).In which case we will use

external numbers for sales documents?

Hi,

When you upload the Open sales orders in SAP system, this external numbers will be used.

When you migrate the master data in SAP, you may also require to migrate the existing Open sales orders from legacy system into SAP.

The external number range should be equal to the Legacy system number range.
