Hi Experts
We have a situation to extend / increase the size of DATA and LOG volumes in livecache database.Presently DATA size is 2 GB and LOG volume size is 1 GB and we shld extend the present sixe from 2 GB to 8 GB and LOG as 1 GB to 2GB. How to do this and what will be the effect.

Bala
Hi Mark
Is there any note to give to our client where it specifies we cannot do resizing. and we have the following recommendation what does it mean whether disk space ( filesystem space) or DATA Volume they are referring
LiveCache Disk Size of Data Volumes
The Volumes data for liveCache is similar to the disks of a database. If they are too small, the Volumes may overflow, causing the liveCache to stall. The disk size available in the configured liveCache data Volumes must exceed certain limits to ensure that the liveCache functions properly. Otherwise, requests to the liveCache may fail due to insufficient disk space.
The disk space assigned to the liveCache is not sufficient.
Recommendation: Increase the disk space to four times the size of the liveCache data cache (minimum 8 GB).
regards

NO !?
What for?
It's documented in ... the documentation...

It means: check the size of your liveCache storage, the data volumes.
Now check the size of your data cache.
And now make sure that the total size of the data volumes is 4 times bigger than your data cache - that is in your case 8GB.
You e.g. create four data volumes with 2 GB each.

Lars
Hello Bala,
-> You are running the liveCache instance, so you are SAP customer.
Please review the SAP note 1173395.
See more information about the Quick Sizer on SAP Service Marketplace: http://service.sap.com/quicksizing
-> The real recommendations of the data/log volumes, liveCache parameters configurations is dependent on the OS resources of the liveCache server, applications which you planning to run on the system, the size of the liveCache data you are planning to have.
Did you use the Quick Sizer SAP service?
Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina

Resizing is not possible, you can, however, create a new data file that is bigger and delete the old one while the database is running.
