Couldn't find the process 'dw.sapSID_DVEBMGS00' in OS

Former Member

Hi, all experts,

I couldn't logon to the sap system, then I restart the SAP use command stopsap and startsap,

the start log display the instance has started, but I couldn't find any sap process when

I use command 'ps -ef |grep dw' in OS.

Who can tell me this is why ?

Best regards,

Michael

Hi,

When you gave the command "ps -eaf | grep dw" and you are not able to find any processes that means your sap system is not started.

Please check the dev_disp log which is located under /usr/sap/SID/DVEBMGS<nr>/work for more information.

please also do post the complete log here .

Thanks,

Chaitanya

Have you tried to stop your system and delete the file /tmp/.sapstream3601manually and then restart?

Looks like some issue with the message server..

Kind regards,

Mark

You are running a java stack, you don't have any dw processes. Check for jlaunch

What is the SID of your system? In your previous post, you where logged on as user j2eadm. Is bp2 the ID of the database?

Check in /sapmnt/SID/profile for your instance profiles. So for J2E and BP2.

Can you past the list of profiles?

The mean of jlaunch is that an java systems is not having dw processes, but jlaunch processes. Since you have posted a log of dev_server0 I think you are using an java (or maybe abap+java) system.

Kind regards,

Mark

Have you tried startsap <sid>.Please try that or else startsap all.

So you have two systems. One abap and one java.. According to your log, it looks like the java system is starting fine..

Like Ambarish is proposing, try a startsap BP2 or startsap all

If this is still not working, can you post the environment settings of bp2adm

Kind regards,

Mark

Thanks for your reply , but I couldn't find the 'dev_w0' log

under the directory /usr/sap/SID/Instance<no.>/work.

I don't know that's why ?
