Socket programming in webdynpro

Hi,

Can I do socket programming within webdynpro framework for data transfer between client and server ?

Alternatively, Can I code signed applets or any other such client side coding techniques within webdynpro ?

I need to send a large file between client and server, and using fileupload api is not an option.
