Netweaver EhP2 install

Wondering if someone can help clear up some questions I have about Netweaver EhP2 install. We are in the process of upgrading from 4.7 to ECC 6 EhP4 and want the Netweaver EhP2 features for Web Dynpro development but we are confused by the statements that it is only currently available as well as only being available in the future (July) for "Ramp-Up" participants. What about those who don't fall in the "Ramp-Up" category?

Thanks to anyone who can help clarify.

If you want NetWeaver 7.0 Enhancement Package 2, then you would have to upgrade to ECC 6.0 EhP5 - not EhP4. There is a direct relationship between the NetWeaver and functional Enhancement Packages.

Ramp-Up means that the software is available without go-live restrictions. It means the software is finished and available for productive use. It is not Beta. However Ramp-Up doesn't mean that every customer can install it all at once. SAP has a policy of doing a controlled rollout called a Ramp-Up. We let in a smaller number of customers so that we can directly monitor their projects. Only once these customers have sucessfully implemented the new software do we open up what we call General Availability - meaning any SAP customer can start an implementation/upgrade.

7.02 is current in ramp-up for SAP Project and Portfolio Management 5.0. The Business Suite 7 Innovations 2010 Ramp-Up (which would include ECC 6.0 EhP5) is scheduled to begin July 12th.

You woudl have to wait until the General Availability phase. This is reached once a certain percentage of ramp-up customers sucessfully complete their updates/installations.

Hello Rory,

that's quite easy. If you don't want to participate the ramp-up process, you have to wait until it is generally available. As things are now this should be about 12/2010.
