there is an offline backup every sat 8pm. it finishes at around 230am every sunday. according to the offline backup logs, everything is okay. but the problem is, j2ee stack is down. i know this because sap netweaver is not loading. when i use tcode smicm to restart j2ee, j2ee always return to its normal status. problem is, we can't do this every week. we can't keep on restarting the j2ee stack everytime the offline backup has been completed. sap netweaver service should turn back on after the offline backup. thanks anil.

Hi,

You need to check the log file immediately after the backup get completed and sap get started.

You need to check dev_jcontrol & std_server0.out , which will give you some hint where the exact problem lies.

Thanks

Hi,

@shishir: Hi Shishir,

First of all my sincere thanks and advice to you to never give the answers with out logic, our frnd is telling clearly they have to schedule offline backup every weekend how come you will ask him to schedule online backup? do you have any specific logic?

you have asked him to check the Backup logs, it's not completed. here the thing is backup was succesful and the ABAP stack came up but java stack is not coming up. so please read the question twice and answer if you have any clue.. other wise please dont divert the users who needs help.

@ igantius: it seems there is some parameter you need to enable. actually there is one jave parameter for the javastartup with ABAP Stack when you start the system. so i believe check that parameter as insturcted in OSS notes and change the value of that parameter if needed, so that java stack will also come up with ABAP stack once the offline backup is done.

Hope if will give you some clue. check and come back with dev_jcontrol logs. if not me lot of frnds and experts are there to help you dont worry and dont be panic.

Cheers.

Your J2ee Crash because you are taking offline backup,

When an offline backup is chosen, The J2ee Engine, The database process, and the Trex process is stopped. All the services on application severs also stopped .

For this you can schedule the downtime for the your server or you can schedule online backup.

hi shishir, problem is, the services dont turn back up on after the offline backup. we cant do an online backup since offline backup is advisable if it's a weekly activity
