Hi All,
Could any one tell me what is the main difference between changing a batch master and changing a batch charecteristic?
Need to know this because 2 different types of IDOCs are generated for these 2 activities.
Regards,
Karthik Rai
Batch master items are those seen on the main screens in MSC2n. These values are usually located in table MCH1 and/or MCHA.
Characteristic values use a whole different set of Bapi's to update and change results on a characteristic as these are in a whole different group of tables.
So SAP made two separate IDOC's.

Changing a batch master and changing a batch characteristic
Changing a batch char is nothing but actually changing the char ( type 23) associated with the batch.
But changing the batch itself in msc2n.( it may be changing the stock type from restricted to unrestricted)
