Select Governance Model

Hello,

I am newly joined in a company where my task is to select governance model for all data elements implemented within the project. The project is to consolidate all customer, vendor and material master from 4 R/3 systems in to 1 new ECC Systems. Also, need to implement SAP MDM as a centralized systems for these. Could anyone let me know what needs to be done to slect the governance model for data element.

The term Governance is itself descriptive, you need to identify the model to administer the Customer, Material, and Vendor Processes.

And for all these Data elements the processes are:

1. Creation

2. Change

3. Deletion

The better approach would be go to your client business people, and ask for the Central Team Members. These people includes:

1. Master Data Stewards

2. Master Data Approvers

3. Administrator

4. End Users

5. Support Team

After consolidation of this information you need to define all the processes by taking all users in to account which includes:

Creation/Change/Delete MDM Workflows.

So the finalization of these processes will be a manual activity. Documentation can help with basic knowledge. But you need to finalize the process as per business requirements.

As you are looking into Data Elements, Data Types of MDM Fields corresponding to customer, vendor and material master.

Please refer SAP NOTE Provided for each of these Masters.

1412742 MDM Customer Content Information (Release 7.1+)

1252883 MDM Vendor Content Information (Release 5.5)

1318478 MDM Vendor Content Information (Release 7.1+)

1255401 MDM Material Content Information (Release 5.5)

1355137 MDM Material Content Information (Release 7.1+)

In each of these SAP Notes, you will find some attachments. In the attachments, you will get Field_Mapping_and_Check_Tables.zip, It contains Information mapping between SAP ECC and SAP MDM.

For example for Material: https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap/support/notes/1412742

Customer_Excel_Files.zip, It contains Information mapping between SAP ECC and SAP MDM. It also contains Content PDF etc.

Similarly you can get information regarding other Master's too in their respective SAP Note Attachments.
