Java Add-In Installation Problem

Former Member

Hi all,

We at our company have completed an upgrade of our Netweaver 04 system for BPS planning to Netweaver 2004 s SR1. The system is NON-Unicode (this is important as explained below).

The former 04 system had an WebAS installed, but disabled and removed as specified at SAP Note 934615. My guess is that the consultant who installed could not get it to work and thus, he disabled it....

At this point, we want to install the Java Add-In to the upgraded version, in order to enable BI Planning, which is the motivation for the upgrade.

Our problem is: We have successfully gone through configuration Steps at SAPInst, until we reached the Media Browser Window. There, the SAPInst asks for the Kernel 7.00 Disk (Non Unicode). Just right after that, it asks for UC Kernel 7.00, even though our system is Non-Unicode!!!.

After having gone through a lengthy search process here and in OSS for Notes related to this issue and to no avail, we are stuck at this point...

Could it be possible that it is mandatory to comply with note #919046 before attempting the installation of the Java Add-In?

Just as a side note, we have already tried supplying SAPInst that UC Kernel it was requesting, and the installation has stopped when trying to stop SCS Instance. Warning message at error log:

A few lines below, there is another error which is what has suggested to me the possibility of Note #919046 :

ERROR 2006-06-27 18:07:11

Any suggestions are well appreciated.

Many thanks in advance,

Jesus.

Hi all,

OSS customer message did not help on this one..

We have determined that the Add-In installer will always ask for the Unicode Kernel, as It is needed for internal purposes. No surprises here. But then again, install fails even though you give all required SARs to SAPInst.

The solution to this issue is derived, as I initially supposed, from note 919046. You MUST have upgraded your profiles and exe/run directory structure to the new one BEFORE installing the Add-In.

Once we changed our exe/run to exe/NUC/NTI386, modified our SAP Services and changed the profiles, SAPInst did the install with no stops.

Just FYI.

Best regards,

Eduardo.

Hello Eduardo,

We are facing the same problem here.

We have gone through your post and tried applying Note 919046.

Inspite of that, we are getting the same error!!

Can you (or anyone) please suggest what could be the problem here?

Thanks,

Prasad
