Dear Guru,

I need some information regarding DB13 online backup job schedule for sap Ecc 6 we have

HP UX server database is Oracle 10g.

Please help me to configure sap online backup job scheduling.

What exactly you want to know...?

Here are the short steps..

1. configure parameters in /oracle/<SID>/102_64/dbs/init<SID>.sap file.

backup_mode = all
backup_type = offline / online
backup_dev_type = disk / tape

2. Use DB13 transaction to schedule the backup.

3. Use DB12 transaction to see the backup logs.

If you are very new to Database backup concept, I would strongly recommend to go through the SAP help.

Hi,

Have you gone through links which I have given in previous post ?

set the below parameter in init<SID>.sap located in $ORACLE_HOME/dbs or ORACLE_HOME\database folder.

backup_mode = all
backup_type = online
backup_dev_type = tape or disk

set the below parameter for disk backup

backup_root_dir = <drive>:\path\to\sapbackup

Hi ,

Before scheduling the backup's try with Tape Initialization and Check Database.

Where you will come to know where the tape is getting detected and other issue.

Hi ,

As per Rajesh please read the link carefully.

Also here are some information .

Check your backup drive is mounted ( by giving command ioscan -fnC tape)

You have to initalize the Tape first using BRtools.

In SAP login

*Go to DB13

*Double click on date on which you wish to schedule online / offline backup.

*There is option Start time - mention time you want to start online / offline backup.

*click on continue the job.

*Give tape name you mentioned in Brtools.

*Click on continue

*Now you have to give Profile - initSID.sap & click to continue

*Now in option for Redo Log backup give profile initSID.sap with function CDS ( if you are using online/offline with redo log )

*click to continue.

It will start job on the date and time you mentioned.
