The IP address and the host name

I have just finished installing a PI(7.1) system, and I can use the IP address to access the initial page:

Http://188.188.188.188: 50000/dir/start/index.jsp

But when I start it from the transaction SXMB_IFR, I can only get the URL

http://hostname:50000/dir/start/index.jsp

and it can not work because of DNS ERROR (dns_server_failure).

even when I changed it into "http://hostname.company.com:50000/dir/start/index.jsp"

it still can not work because of DNS Error (dns_unresolved_hostname)

I have alread added one entry '188.188.188.188 hostname.company.com' to local directory

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

so why the 'hostname.company.com' can not be resolved by DNS? how can i correct it?

Hi,

Did you maintained the entry in below format

12.123.23.23 srstfdf srstfdf.shouse.com

in hosts file. If it is already maintained in the above format. then check the error if it is DNS related maintain the entry in DNS.

resolved.

1. hostname.company.com should be set as an exception of the IE's or Firefox's PROXY settings.

2. RZ10 to change the value of parameter "icm/host_name_full" to "hostname.company.com"
