A question about updating the kernel on HP-UX platform

Hi,

After updating the kernel from 144 to 236 on the ECC6.0, I found that we got different result as using dispwork on UNIX and sm51 on SAP. the command dispwork showed the patch number is 236 while the sm51 showed Kernel Patch Number is 144. I can not catch the reason why I got such result.

It is pretty odd.

BTW I unpacked the kernel in /sapmnt/<SID>/exe.

Hi,

Probably, you made some mistake while extracting the downloaded SAR files.

You can try reverting back to OLD kernel version and then re-upgrading with NEW one.

1. Restore the OLD kernel.

2. Copy downloaded both SAPEXE and SAPEXEDB SAR files in "/sapmnt/<SID>/exe" folder.

3. Extract both SAR files in "/sapmnt/<SID>/exe" as <sid>adm user.

4. Start SAP and check the kernel patch level again..

Hope, this will show you correct kernel version...
