Hi Experts,
I want to generate alerts when a message fails in PI. I am checking SXMB_MONI for message failures.
I have setup following to generate alerts.
1. Alert category in ALRTCATDEF and fixed receipients
2. Activated the Alert rule in RWB (Alter Config)
3. SMTP setup is present in SCOT
4. alertinbox service is activated in SICF.
Even after doing these, alerts are not getting generated as I cannot see alerts in Alert Inbox and I am not getting alert emails.
Please let me know if I am missing anything else required or any additional steps are required for alert generation.
Thanks,
Deepak

Hi,
Google for "Troubleshooting alerts in sap xi".
You will get a document. You can refer to the steps described there to find the problem in your case.

Hi Deepak,
Check the status of the messages in the tcode SOST and see if the messages are getting blocked due to any other reasons.

I see some errors in TCODE SOST
Says No delivery to email addresses, invalid recipient address. But email information is valid
Under SLG1, It says Error in XML formatting, alert not forwarded. I am receiving regular basis alerts. Where i have setup all the background jobs etc.. But nothing works for Interface alerts
Any input is appreciated
Check the following.
1)Check Exchange profile parameters 'Central Monitoring Server':
in section RuntimeWorkbench
com.sap.aii.rwb.server.centralmonitoring.r3.ashost
com.sap.aii.rwb.server.centralmonitoring.r3.client
com.sap.aii.rwb.server.centralmonitoring.r3.sysnr
Ensure they are filled with the information of the PI system where the
Central Monitoring Server is.
2)Go to tcode sm59 and check RFC Destination
'CentralMonitoringServer-XIAlerts'.
Under 'Technical Setting' the same host and system number as parameter
com.sap.aii.rwb.server.centralmonitoring.r3.ashost/r3.sysnr in the
exchange profile should be maintained.
Under 'Logon&Security' the same client as from parameter
com.sap.aii.rwb.server.centralmonitoring.r3.client should be
maintained.
If they are not the same/matching, delete the destination. It will be
created automatically with the correct parameters when the next alert
is created.
3)Run these reports to ensure all the necessary ICF
services are running?
RSXMB_ACTIVATE_ICF_SERVICES
RSALERT_ACTIVATE_ICF_SERVICES
Hi Siva,
I checked this report SXMSALERT_LOGREADER and it shows the log.
In the log it shows following message for alert category I created -
"Alert Category CUST_ALRT_CAT in rule Custom Alert Category not yet confirmed. Skip creation of new Alert."
What do I need to do to confirm the alert category created?
Thanks,
Deepak
Hi Deepak,
It looks like you havent confirmed previous alerts created so it new alerts are not being generated. To prevent this you can confirm the alerts in ur alert inbox by selecting the alert message and clicking the 'complete' button.
or as Abishek has mentioned uncheck the supress multiple alerts in ur alert configuration.
if you are still not successful
Ensure any old alerts have been confirmed, by runningthe report RSALERTPROC.Choose the relevant alert category (based on the gui field: Alert Category) of the Alert Rule: Definition tab - maps to table field"Category" in the SXMSALERTRULES database table.
Specify the criteria: "Delete Old Alerts" and then choose the"Selection by Age" - Age in Days option and use a value of 0. Be aware that this will also delete any pending alerts for any other RWB Alert Rule using the same alert category.
Afterwards try to trigger an alert once more to see if it is delivered to the RWB alert inbox
