Netweaver Developer Studio Installation

Hi

I am new to Sap Netweaver. Could you please point me to appropriate resource where I can find detailed steps for installation of Netweaver Developer Studio. I have downloaded 5 files from sdn.sap.com. They are as follows:

NW2004sSP7_Preview.part1.rar

NW2004sSP7_Preview.part2.rar

NW2004sSP7_Preview.part3.rar

NW2004sSP7_Preview_IDE.rar

NW2004sSP7_Preview_TREX707P1.rar

Hi Ravi,

For NWDS all you need to do is unzip the file NW2004sSP7_Preview_IDE.rar and double click on IDE70setup.exe in the IDE directory. Follow the wizard that pops up.

Hi

Do I need to download/install SAP Web A/S to deploy and run a Web Dynpro application developed using Java in Netweaver Developer Studio or Netweaver Developer Studio contains a local J2EE Server.

Hi Ravi,

NWDS is just a development environment based on Eclipse. It does not contain a local server. You will have to install it separately. The other files are for WebAS installation.

Ravi,

NWDS is IDE where you will develop your applications,SAP WAS is where you will deploy your applications, you can install IDE and WAS in the same PC locally or you can install IDE locally and WAS remotely.

1)For softwares and installtion guides refer http://service.sap.com.

2)For Ready applications (tutorials) you can refer http://www.sdn.sap.com and http://help.sap.com

Just to make your life even easier, here is the exact path to the installation guide for the standalone installation of the Developer Studio:

https://service.sap.com/instguidesnw2004s -> Installation & Upgrade Guides -> SAP NetWeaver -> Release 2004s -> Installation. On this page exapnd the three "4 - Installation - Clients " and see "Installation Guide - SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio".
