Large java_pid hprof files

Hi,

We have a PI 7.11 system on which we are observing that very large files java_pid_*****.hprof are getting generated in the directory: /usr/sap/SID/DVEBMGSXX/j2ee/cluster/server0.

These files are becoming quite big in size (over 2 GB) and filling up the entire filesystem. this causes the java stack to crash and we end up restarting the system after removing these hprof files to a backup filesystem.

Now, as I understand, these files are java memory dump files which might mean there is some major problem with my system as these files just keep on being generated.

My question is, what should be done now, since we cannot allow these files to keep on generating forever. Also, is there a way to analyze these files in order to understand the underlying problem with the system?

I have no clue what needs to be done as I have never faced this issue till now.

Please help as soon as possible.

Thanks,

Shitij

We downloaded and installed SAP Memory Analyzer and analyzed these hprof files with it and found that one of the interfaces was responsible for the memory issues.

PI developers have been working on that interface and are fixing it.

Closing this thread now.
