SINGLE Material - You can use variant configuration for pricing based on characteristics, if you want to create for single material with different variant pricing.

DIFFERENT Material - You can use material BOM, if your want to create different material master.

DIFFERENT Material - You can use material BOM, if your want to create different material master.

For Instance, If you maintain different type of tyre like,

MCT001 Tyre Sportbikes - Small

MCT002 Tyre Sportbikes - Medium

MCT003 Tyre Sportbikes - Large

for each material maintain material master, where the Tyre are different on the bases of size either in diameter or radius.

In material master, you can maintain diff characteristics of the material like size, sales, purchase, accounting, stock, production data, ect.

For Production, make production BOM for the material.

And sales BOM, different sale-able material are add up to make one sale-able material

SINGLE Material - You can use variant configuration for pricing based on characteristics, if you want to create for single material with different variant pricing.

For instance,

For MCT003 Tyre Sportbikes - Large, you maintain different varieties/characteristics and based on that you have diff pricing, like, for same diameter/radius of tyre and different width of tyre, you charge differently to your customer.

Then for this you can take use of configurable material with variant pricing

To suggest you better, can you be little clear and descriptive.

Thanks & Regards
