Upgrading XI 3.0 to PI 7.1

Hi Experts,

I am in the process of doing an upgrade from XI 3.0 to PI 7.1 Can anybody guide me the step by step approach that needs to be done in order to do an upgrade without any down time and also about how to migrate the existing scenarios to PI7.1.

Is it necessary to upgrade XI 3.0 to PI7.0 and then to PI 7.1 or directly we can upgrade to 7.1?

Also is it better to upgrade or do direct new installation and then recreate export /Import all the scenarios from XI 3.0 to PI 7.1?

Pls guide me.
