Mercator to XI migration

Hi All,

I am planning to migrate mercator 5.5 to XI3.0. I need following information:

1. Can I reuse Mercator map.

2. what will be right strategy fot migration.

3. Is mercator map can be used in XI with some modification.

I don't know anything about mercator. I'll appreciate if you answer asap.

Hi Gaurav,

How are doing with mercator to xi migration,

actually we too are going to do the same thing.

only difference is that we are migrating mercator to data stage and MB concept to XI configuration. and our plan is to make a java call to data stage for getting the repository as we will not use the XI mapping. and MB is nothing but some unix scripts which takes care of the routing of the receiver based on condition but after migration we will migrate thic to configuration of XI.

1. Can you pls let me know Migration key points.

2. What all we should take care when we make a java call to data stage from XI.

Hi Gourav,

I looked into this over a year ago, but never implemented it. The following is what I found, based on paper review.

Mercator uses a proprietery mapping tool. In another word, it's mapping program can only be used by Mercator.

Mercator also provides an API to access its mapping program from external sources. There is an additional license fee for the API library.

In XI, a java mapping can be written to use the Mercator API to access the Mercator mappig programs.
