Hello Friends,
While installing ERP 2004 SR1 on Windows host(AMD 64 architeture) with Oracle 10g, I am facing an error in the
phase " RFC jobs". The error is mentioned below:
ERROR => CONNECT failed with sql error 12154. (as mentioned in Work process logs)
Can anyone please help me out?
Thanks & Regards,
Ankit Mishra
Hi,
ERROR => CONNECT failed with sql error 12154
It indicates there is problem in TNS configuration...
1. Check if LISTENER is started and running (C:\lsnrctl status) ## Set the service in "Automatic" mode.
2. Check if ORACLE_SID = <DBSID> enviornment variable is set for <SID>ADM and SAPService<SID> user.
3. Check if Database is started and Opened.
4. Finally Check if you have added HOST ENTRY for your server in C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts file
If all above things are correct, then check the contents of tnsnames.ora for any syntax mistake.
Also reffer the following notes.
[Note 443867 - ORA-12154 Collective SAP note|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/443867]
[Note 34479 - Collective note for problems with SQL-Net V2 ORACLE.|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/34479]
The try again.

Hello Rajesh,
Finally I was able to install the SAP system. The issue got resolved with the help of the note 556232 mentioned in the collective note 443867.
By doing the below mentiuoned step the issue resolved:
Define an AdmUser entry under:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> Software -> SAP -> <sid>
they can be automatically reconciled with the environment of the defined user each time R/3 is started.
Thanks & Regards,
