OnSelect event getting fired twice in IE8

We have implemented Travel module using Web dynpro ABAP. Right now we are in the process of upgrading our user systems to Internet Explorer 8 and we came across an issue where selecting from drop-down fires the event OnSelect twice.

This only happens when using ESS-Travel in IE8, we have had this working with IE6 for a while and even using Firefox version 3.6.3 causes no problem.

If a user tries to create an expense report in IE8 and clicks on the dropdown to select one of the available expense type the event handler method "ONACTIONEXPENSE_TYPE_SELECT" is executed twice.

Is there any known compatibility issues with IE8?

Any input is appreciated.

What release/support package level are you on? IE8 is only supported as of the latest support packages. You can check the browser support matrix in the PAM (Platform Availability Matrix) on the Service Marketplace:

According to the PAM - 7.01 supports IE8 on XP or Vista with SP5 and IE8 on Win7 as of SP6. Your information states you are on SP5 - so if you are on XP or Vista you could open a support ticket. Please also consider the information in note 1296463:

Some product versions or external portal products may rely on the compatibility mode in IE8. SAP activates this by using the internal meta-tag-based configuration so that administrators and end users do not need to activate the compatibility mode manually. Microsoft has confirmed that IE8 in compatibility mode works exactly like Internet Explorer 7 (IE7). Any error that customers experience in IE8 in compatibility mode should also occur in the same way with IE7. So SAP will deal with this as with any other IE7 problem (standard support for all versions/patch levels that are released for use with IE7). However, if there is an issue with IE8 in compatibility mode that does NOT occur with IE7, SAP reserves the right to refer customers to Microsoft for assistance.

We also are having this same problems (event called twice from dropdown action) after applying the latest SP . Previously we can run our in-house application in ie8 compatibility mode without problems. IE7 and Firefox are fine.

We implemented SAP Note 1461842 as suggested in OSS message by SAP and that fixed our problem. This note has 19 prerequisite notes.

Hi there, we get the same error. I saw the mentioned notes but they are assigned to the NWCE. We use 7.0, what notes should we install?
