Connecting NWCE to PI ESR

Hi all,

We have an existing PI system with ESR and recently installed a fresh NetWeaver CE system with ESR capability as well. What we would like to know is if there is a way we can have our NWCE system communicate/connect to the ESR that is in PI?

The link here shows how to configure ESR on NWCE to be used with PI -

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi711/helpdata/en/ed/a62e78e5e746bfac9af164e5b55bcb/frameset.htm but we would like to know if it is possible to have this the other way around? We'd like to have only the ESR in PI active while maintaining a communication path from NWCE to the ESR in PI.

Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all.

Hi Raj,

Thanks for your response. We have not yet done any changes to both ESR but we would like to have the one in PI to be active. The link only shows how to setup the central ESR on CE and not the other way around. Can we do the reverse of some of the procedure and perform the changes as described below?

On SAP NetWeaver CE

1. On the NetWeaver Admin (<ce_server>:<port>/nwa), select Configuration Management -> Infrastructure -> Java System Properties -> CE_template and choose com.sap.xi.repository from the application tab. Under Extended Details, select Modify to change the following parameters:

u2022 com.sap.aii.connect.repository.httpport = <http port of PI ESR>

u2022 com.sap.aii.connect.repository.httpsport = <https port of PI ESR>

u2022 com.sap.aii.connect.repository.mshost = <mshost of PI ESR>

u2022 com.sap.aii.connect.repository.mshttpport = <mshttp port of PI ESR>

u2022 com.sap.aii.connect.repository.mshttpsport = <mshttps port of PI ESR>

u2022 com.sap.aii.connect.repository.name = <host name of PI ESR>

u2022 com.sap.aii.connect.repository.rmiport = <rmi port of PI ESR>

u2022 com.sap.aii.connect.repository.rmiport.ssl = <rmi ssl port of PI ESR>

To set the below parameters, go to PI Exchange Profile Connection

u2022 com.sap.aii.connect.remote_ep_client = <PI client>

u2022 com.sap.aii.connect.remote_ep_lang = EN

u2022 com.sap.aii.connect.remote_ep_port = <PI port>

u2022 com.sap.aii.connect.remote_ep_psw = password

u2022 com.sap.aii.connect.remote_ep_server = <host name of PI ESR>

u2022 com.sap.aii.connect.remote_ep_system = <system no. of PI ESR>

u2022 com.sap.aii.connect.remote_ep_user = PILDUSER

Our assumption is that the parameters will allow NWCE to point to the ESR on PI. Do we need to configure anything else in the PI system?
