Prop Factors log

Hi All,

I have a simple question. Whenever we calculate PFs,we get a log, in that it shows as below

total = 3.0900000000000000E+02

totl CVC = 1.0100000000000000E+02

Calculated PF = 3.2686084142394819E+01 %

I just want to understand why it shows as so many 0s with E and 02 ?

I understand what those 3 lines mean. I am missing this mathematical concept. Why it shows in such number of digits and with E and what's 02 at the end ?

can anyone explain to me ?

thanks

Venkat

Venkat,

Its a simple mathematical notation. You will see a similar thing in EXCEL as well if you give a big number. A scientific notation basically divides the number in question by a power of ten. So for instance anynotation like

N.MMMMMMM E 0X would mean N.MMMMMM multiplied by 10^X.

So 2.0000012 E05 would mean 2.0000012 x 10^5 = 200000.12

In a simple way you can just shift the decimal place to the right by number of places equivalent to the number followed by E.

So in case E03 would shift the decimal to right by 3 places.

In your case 3.0900000000000000E+02 = 309.0000000000000

Hope this clarifies
