Error during the final step of systemcopy

Hello SAP gurus

I tried looking for this problem on SDN and went through many many postings and didnt the right answer for my problem. So I am posting here.

Here is the problem description.

I did create the migration export from the source (ECC6.0) server and then am trying to copy it on a differnt server.

On the target system, I started sapinst.exe and it took me through all the steps without any problem. I entered all the user names and passwords that it asked.

It went to the final step where it starts listing final task progress...where it lists phase list and start putting green check mark

when it came to second in the list that said create users for sap system, it failed the error in the log file is as follows

Thanks George for the response. But sorry I didn't understand what you are asking me to do. Where do you want me to create sidadm and services? I have not done this when I installed other servers before and usually they were getting cteated automatically.

Could you please give more details on this so that I can try it out?

I would appreciate it a lot.

Hi Ram,

Is DEM your QAS / Test system?

Was there an operational SAP system (called DEM) at the target location?

Can you provide us some detailed background about the refresh you are doing.....Also the highlevel overview about the steps you are following....

Regards,

Raj.

Hi Raj

Thanks for your time. I appreciate it a lot.

I am the only SAP guy doing everything (including BASIS work now, eventhough I am not trained in BASIS).

We have budget issues and so trying to work with the limitations of resoures.

We have a system (SID ECP) which was used for production as well as demo work (sales related demos).

recently we got another server to use as for demo purpose.

So following the system copy steps from service.sap.com, I created target export using sapinst which was successful without any errors.

Then on the new server I am doing import ing of this sytemcopy (again using sapinst on target system). The SID of this system I am using is DEM

It goes thro all the steps and fails at the end as explained above.

Hope I have given you a clear picture of what we are doing.

Thanks

Ram

Hi Prasad,

Do the following...

1. Manually create DEMADM and SAPServiceDEM users.

2. Add them to Administrators Group.

3. Perform the installation as a User having Domain Administrative Rights..

The point is, run the installer with the user who has rights to create users, shares and modifying group membership and NTFS filesystem permissions..

You will not run into a problem then...

Regards.
